Fathom Scientific: Summer 2020

Hydrologic Data Analyst. For University of Saskatchewan Peyto Glacier Monitoring and Barkerville Gold Mines Ltd: Reviewed and cleaned AutoSalt, Solinst Level Logger and Baro Logger data, processed salt dilution measurements using the Fathom Salt Portal. Quantified measurement uncertainty and developed the rating curve using least squares regression.

 

Sea Smart: Spring 2020

Advisor: Consulted with project team on rollout of the Ocean Defenders Program. Provided timely feedback and support for program validation and delivery processes, resulting in increased reach.

Grouse Mountain: Winter 2020

Ski Patrol. Avalanche Program: Gathered snowpack, avalanche and weather observations and completed snow profiles. Observed and submitted to Canadian Avalanche Association Information Exchange (InfoEx). Assisted with avalanche control. Responded to injuries & wrecks, mountain operations.

Canada West Mountain School: 2018 - 2020

Instructor: Avalanche Skills Training at Mt. Seymour and Whistler Blackcomb.

SAFE411 and SAFE439 (BC Hydro Workplace Avalanche Safety Training). Covering subjects of: Weather, snowpack, terrain, use of transceiver, probe and shovels according to BC Hydro Avalanche Safety Plan.

Alpine Solutions: Winter/Spring 2019 - 2020

Engineering Technician. For the Coastal Gaslink, (TC Energy) project: Collected, analyzed and published snow-pack and meteorological
data for section 8 of the project in Kitimat and Houston, BC. Gathered daily avalanche and snowpack observations. Collaborated and communicated with engineering, environmental, and project management teams regarding avalanche bulletins, and project implications. Observed and submitted to Canadian Avalanche Association Information Exchange (InfoEx). Facilitated training for onsite personnel entering avalanche terrain.   

 

Northwest Hydraulic Consultants: Winter/Spring 2018 - 2019

Engineering Technician. Collected, analyzed and published hydrometric and meteorological data for clients including: BC Hydro, BluEarth Renewables, City of West Vancouver, City of Surrey and Metro Vancouver.

 

Conducted flow monitoring by salt dilution gauging, acoustic doppler velocimetry (ADV) and acoustic doppler current profiler (ADCP). Reviewed and rated measurements using Aquatic Informatics. Gathered manual water level measurements. Installed benchmarks and used survey level circuits for assessing shift in staff gauges or instrumentation. Deployed and diagnosed: Campbell Science, Neon, and Sutron Data Loggers; OTT Hydromet and Omega Pressure Transducers; Solinst Level and Baro Loggers; and YSI MultiParameter Sondes.

 

Serviced BC Hydro Data Collection Platforms in the Bridge River Region. Conducted British Columbia Snow Survey, making measurements of snowpack depth and snow water equivalent and density.

Sound Water Film Project: 2018 - 2019

Initiated and led award-winning expedition and film project to the Elaho Range in the Coast Mountains: managed all aspects of the trip including fundraising, budgeting, group management on the ground, helicopter logistics. Assisted with film creation and cinematography. Received formal approval from Squamish Nation Elected Representatives and Hereditary Chiefs. Progressed the regional narratives around water, environmentalism and First Nations in Howe Sound. Best of Vancouver International Film Festival Tour.

Howe Sound Biosphere Region Initiative: 2017 - 2019

Working Group Member, Communications Advisor: Enterprise development, media strategy, research of UN Biosphere Region Policies, reporting, consultation with regional Stakeholders (NGOs, Forests Lands Natural Resource Operation and Rural Development, Destination BC, Resort Municipality of Whistler, Canadian Commission for UNESCO, Squamish Nation and the public). Added value to the enterprise through relationship building, developing communications strategy and plan, building website, proposal writing, grant applications, and community fundraising. Sea to Sky Corridor Destination Development Strategy representative.

 

Outdoor Explore: 2016 - Current

Owner/Co-Founder: Tourism operation running hiking, canoeing, and climbing programs in the Sea to Sky and Sunshine Coast area for youth groups, and adults.  

Business architecture, initialized and oversaw the health and persistence of the enterprise, built and ran sales analytics and optimization, risk management and mitigation procedures, bookkeeping and financial oversight, facilitated team meetings, hiring and training, marketing. Research on Provincial Adventure Tourism Policy and Sea to Sky Land and Resource Management Plan, completed Extensive Use Tenure Application.
